Woke up at 5AM; I really am ready to go home. Hung out till breakfast & got back to the Bletchley railway station just after 9AM only to discover that no trains were running on this particular line today. Oops. Luckily, British Rail had provided buses to take us all down to London Euston station (where I needed to go to get to Kings Cross to connect to Thameslink to get to Gatwick...). It just took two hours instead of one. The most hysterical part was the bus driver didn't know how to get to the stations we were supposed to hit on the way to London. Enter one of my fellow passengers who was motivated because he needed to get to Belgium today. He sat behind the driver the entire way, giving him directions on how to get to each of the stations. What a hoot! Got to Kings Cross Thameslink just in time to catch a train and ended up at Gatwick around 1:30. Luckily the Thistle Gatwick has a free shuttle to and from the airport.

I was thinking about taking a side trip today but without a map and not wanting to lug my luggage around decided just to have lunch and relax and read and bring this diary up to date.

This is a nice hotel. The rooms are warmer and more homey than the Campanile. And for the first time in 10 days I have a double bed! The Euro 2004 soccer championships are tonight (Greece vs. Portugal) so the bar should be hopping. Good thing it's at the other end of the building!

And, oh yes....It's England. It's raining.
