Community Service Paper & Presentation

Each of you will give a 5 minute oral report on your community service project during the final exam time.  (Please note: because the final exam is oral reports to the group, don't ask to be excused from the final or to take your final at a different time. If you've already made airline reservations, you'll either want to change them or drop the course. There will be no exceptions.) Hand in a three page reflection on your experience at the beginning of class on 5/27/08.  In both the oral and written presentations, respond, at a minimum, to the following questions. What did you do?  What did you learn about the nature of community?  What was positive about the experience?  What was negative?  Of what worth was the experience to you as a growing, thoughtful, caring human being?

I expect well-written essays.  I expect them to be neatly typed, carefully edited, and following all the usual conventions of college-level writing. I expect your name and the page number on each page, I expect the pages to be printed on only one side of the paper, and I expect the pages to be stapled together. You should get help from the Writing Center if you need it.

Identify your papers as follows: in the top left corner of your paper put the following information.

Your Name [John Doe]

Name of assignment [Community Service Report]

Due date: [May 3, 2008]

Date submitted [May 10, 2008]

You will receive a separate grade for the oral report and for the written report.  Grading will be on an E-S-U scale.  E = Excellent; far exceeds requirements, beyond the class average; S= Satisfactory; meets minimum requirements, about the class average; U = Unsatisfactory; doesn't meet requirements.
