Stones (Deconstructed screen printing) (2013)

Hand-dyed cotton, machine-pieced, hand-quilted

14 x 37 inches

When taking an advanced dyeing class with Carol Soderlund, I limited my palette to neutral colors while I learned a variety of techniques. My hope was that I might happen upon colors and techniques that I could eventually use in quilts about stones. The fabric in this quilt was made through a process of deconstructed screen printing. The construction and hand-quilting was done after a workshop with Dorothy Caldwell; the stitching incorporates some of what I learned from Dorothy.
