Teaching in previous terms
Here is a list of the courses I taught in previous terms at Knox:
Winter 2008
Fall 2007
Spring 2007
Winter 2007
Fall 2006
Prior to coming to Knox, I co-taught several times while a graduate
student at the
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Spring 2006
Summer 2005
Summer 2004
Seems a bit repetitious, except that the Spring 2006 version was
actually a different course with the same name and number.
That semester, the course became a fairly traditional course on
computational models (regular languages, context-free languages, and
Turing machines).
Prior to that time, the course taught mathematical tools used in
theoretical computer science, primarily combinatorics,
recurrences, and graph theory.
Before that, I was a teaching assistant (TA) for
(473 and 475 were 373 and 375 when I was a TA for them, but have since been
renumbered.
CS 473 has also been split into separate sections for graduate and
undergraduate students, but was combined when I was its TA.
CS 273 was also a different course than the one currently taught, as
noted above.)
I had the honor of being included in the
Incomplete list of Teachers Ranked as Excellent
based on student rankings earned during
Fall '98
and
Spring '99.
(Teaching assistants are only eligible for this honor when teaching a lab or
recitation so they have students to rank them.
My other semesters as a TA, my contact with students was office hours,
email/newsgroup questions, etc so I was not eligible.)
