I am a new faculty member at Knox, currently in my second year here.

Research

I am a theoretical computer scientist -- I focus on designing algorithms, the recipes computers use to solve problems. Most of my work has a mathematical feel since a key part of designing algorithms is to prove that they work and complete in a certain amount of time. It differs from traditional mathematics because of my focus on processes (represented by algorithms) rather than properties or structure. My main research interest is scheduling, but I have also published in processor allocation, admission control, and algorithmic graph theory.
